DSFCU Grain Worth $60 Million: Case Against the Scheme’s Organizer Sent to Court — What Is Known About Him?
NABU and SAPO have sent to court an indictment against the organizer of a scheme to misappropriate grain belonging to the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine (DSFCU) worth more than $60 million. According to the anti-corruption agencies, the defendant owns an international grain trader of Russian origin. His name is not disclosed in the official statement.
At the same time, LIGA.net and «Slovo i Dilo» link this case to businessman Oleksiy Fedorychev. LIGA.net, in particular, cites its own sources in law enforcement. However, there is currently no official confirmation that he is the defendant in the case reported by NABU and SAP.
How the Scheme Worked
According to the investigation, grain owned by DSFCU was supplied to Saudi Arabia through a chain of business entities. The contracts provided for deferred payment, which, according to law enforcement, did not correspond to market conditions.
As a result, the state corporation never received payment for the products it delivered. Losses are estimated at more than $60 million. Part of the funds — over $40.9 million — was, according to the investigation, laundered through foreign companies registered in Cyprus.
What Is Known About the Possible Defendant
Oleksiy Fedorychev is a businessman of Russian origin associated with the international grain trade and port business in Ukraine, in particular the TIS group of companies.
NABU previously put him on the wanted list as part of the proceedings concerning the misappropriation of DSFCU funds. In July 2024, assets linked to the businessman were also seized in Italy, including a castle worth around €41 million.
These circumstances may explain why the media link Fedorychev to the new statement by the anti-corruption agencies. However, without official confirmation, it is premature to call him a defendant in this particular episode.
The editorial team is also preparing information requests to the Odesa-based TIS port group, with which Oleksiy Fedorychev is associated, to find out whether he is connected to the case reported by NABU and SAP.
